We are now counting down the days until June 24th when THE TIN MAN runs in the Diamond Jubilee at royal Ascot. You know that it is not far away when the Racing Channels ask to come and film and James has to do interviews. It is all part of the build up and makes you realise that our horse is actually going for a big race and the excitement starts. THE TIN MAN seems in very good form at home but he is so laid back and always has been so he is always hard to judge on his everyday canters but he has done some nice faster work. the two Toms (Queally & Fanshawe) seem very happy with him and they are the one that know. He will do one more piece of faster work as his race is on the last day of Royal Ascot otherwise he will just tick over in the meantime.
MASTER ARCHER runs at Kempton on Wednesday 14th June. It is the first time he is running over 12f and we hope that it will suit him better. He looks great and after three fourths it would be lovely for him to get his head in front.
LORD GEORGE is on target for The Northumberland Plate, which hopefully he will get into. He needs twenty to come out. I keep quizzing trainers on their runners and are they going to run. If he doesn’t get into the main race he will run in the alternative race for horses who didn’t make the draw into the main race. He is such a lovely horse it would be great if he does stay two miles as we could have a lot of fun with him.
MAGICAL DREAMER is in great form after her win. she has a fifty percent record with two wins from four runs. It looks as if she wont get a run until 30th June at Newmarket where there is two races for fillies over 6f, a conditions race and a handicap. she also looks in excellent form.
We would have loved to run PTARMIGAN RIDGE at Windsor last night. We thought after all the rain earlier last week that it would be at least good ground but unfortunately it dried out hugely and it became good to fast and we cant run him on that. It looks as if he may have to run on the all weather at eiother Kempton or Newcastle if James can find a race for him.
Of the four two year olds we have two that looks as if they are ready to go on a bit and they are EXCELLERATION and SOCIETY PRINCE. James is going to start doing some slightly faster work with them and see how they take it. SPANISH ARCHER was always going to be a more late maturing type and will hopefull get a couple of runs at the end of the season. THE PINTO KID is not a big horse and some people would have kicked on with him but he does not have a two year old pedigree being by High Chaparral out of a Nayef mare and we are going to give him the time. He is improving all the time and rushing him is not the thing to do.
George Wood who has ridden LORD GEORGE twice this year and use to look after him until he took out his apprentice licence has now lost his 5lb claim when winning on Don Cantillons Hollywood Road at Windsor. He has since won on Secret Agent at Salisbury this afternoon.
