FRED ARCHER RACING has had a quiet week since PTARMIGAN RIDGE ran such a wonderful first race last Saturday (20/05/2017).  Doncaster luckily had 9mm of rain before racing which would have helped PTARMIGAN hugely.  He is not a good mover and the softer the ground the better.  He has a huge heart and we saw that at Doncaster.  A furlong from home he was a good ten lengths off the leader and suddenly he seemed to realise what he had to do and he flew, something no other horses had done all evening, to get beaten a neck.  Possibly in another one or two strides he would have own.  Carlos who rides him at home always says that he does not move at all well in his slower paces but when you work him he moves beter and better.  Hopefully with time and age he will get better.  He is a charming horse who just wants to please and should be a fun horse for the Fred Archer Racing – Energy Syndicate.

He has had an easy week and been turned out for most days this week and it will be back to normal this coming week.  We will not be able to run him on any ground that firmer than good and would prefer soft in the description.

MAGICAL DREAMER is running on Tuesday at Leicester.  She has caused us many headaches as she works as a nice filly but she has issues!  She is running in a hood on Tuesday and we hope that will help her.  She has won as a two year old but we would like her to win as a three year old  as well.  She has a big character and a very swishy tail!!

LORD GEORGE has been given an entry in the two mile Northumberland Plate which will be a half mile further than he has run over before.  James is thinking that he would like to send him to Newcastle fresh and well and the likelihood is that he wont run between now and then.  He looks great and we are very happy with him.

THE TIN MAN is back dong his two canters a day and looks very well.  We are very happy with him since The Duke of York as he seems to have come out of the race in great form.  We now have four weeks until his next race which we hope will be The Diamond Jubilee on the Saturday of Royal Ascot.

MASTER ARCHER had two runs on ground that was a bit too firm for his liking.  He was quite sore after his Doncaster run but he is now back moving well.  There are no plans for him at the moment but he would not run on any ground that was not good or softer.  He is now fresh and well and back bucking and showing his well being.

The two year olds.  THE PINTO KID has been doing longer canters around Side Hill all weather and enjoying it.  SOCIETY PRINCE is now doing a canter on the Town Canter and one up Warren Hill.  His character is very much like his Dad and moves like him also.  EXCELLERATION and SPANISH ARCHER both look great and doing two canters a day.  SPANISH ARCHER has changed a lot in the past month having gone through a backward stage has now come out of it looking bigger and stronger.

On Friday we had a FRED ARCHER RACING morning.  It was a glorious weather and you could not have had a better morning to be out on the heath watching your horses.  THE TIN MAN was the only FAR horse out first lot.  James wont change his routine for anyone!  LORD GEORGE led MASTER ARCHER second lot (see picture)MAGICAL DREAMER and  PTARMIGAN RIDGE also out second lot and the youngsters all out third lot.  We always have a good time and it is good that everyone feels very much part of all the horses regardless of owning shares in them or not.
