Lord George (Left) & Master Archer

Excelleration May 2018

Both PTARMIGAN RIDGE and MASTER ARCHER finished second at Kempton last night.

We have never felt that the all weather is PTARMIGAN RIDGE’S favoured surface but as there is no soft ground around it is the safest option.  He was in at Leicester on Monday but the ground firmed up too much for him and we had to take him out.  He ran a nice race last night but couldn’t peg back Treacherous and was beaten a length and a half.  If we have to run on the all weather next time we may easily go for a mile race.  We would love to see a downpour so we could run him on his favoured soft/heavy ground but it looks unlikely at the moment.  He is a charming horse who does his utmost to please and we are sure to have some more good days with him.

MASTER ARCHER is Mr Consistency himself having finished second in his last eight races on the flat.  He never seems to quite get his head front on the line as there always seems just one too good for him.  We will keep perservering and one day it will happen.  He is quite a good horse and I am sure it would do his confidence the world of good to get his head in front.

EXCELLERATION is FAR next runner at Lingfield on Saturday evening.  It is a big field of seventeen but he ran well enough last time in a field of sixteen.  He is coming along all the time but still looks quite babyish and in time will be a nice horse and give his partners lots of fun.  This will be his third run and all of them have been at Lingfield so he should know the place pretty well by now.
