The next few week is going to be exciting for FRED ARCHER RACING.  On Friday their only filly MAGICAL DREAMER is running over 5f for the first time.  We think if it is very soft as predicted her the 5f will suit her.  At times she has been a tricky filly with her hormones playing havoc but recently she has been much easier.  The worry tomorrow is that she is running against the boys for the first time this year but luckily they are all geldings so hopefully she wont get too excited and flirty again.

THE TIN MAN has another big day on Saturday when he takes part in The Haydock Sprint for the second time.  Last year he made up an enormous amount of ground, having missed the break, to finish a fine second.  I cant imagine the ground will be that soft again as it really was bottomless as it poured and poured heavy rain last year.  We have been lucky that he seems to run well on any ground.  He has given us all an enormous amount of fun and fingers crossed he will run well again on Saturday.  He seems well at home and we are looking forward to running him.

Next week we have the two stayers running.  MASTER ARCHER looks as if he will run at Kempton on Wednesday over two miles for the first time.  He is a lovely horse with a very kind attitude who has run some excellent races but keeps finding one too good for him.  We put some cheek pieces on him two races ago as he is till a big baby and we wanted him to concentrate and they do seem to have helped.  LORD GEORGE is running on Friday at The St Leger meeting in The Mallard which is a staying handiap.  We won it a few years ago with GRANDERA’S half brother called OLD HUNDRED and we would love to win it with GEORGE.  He is another charming horse who has a lovely laconic air about him.  He has run twice in France unsuccessfully as he does not like the slow early pace and the sprint to the line he would rather have a good strong even gallop all the way.

PTARMIGAN RIDGE ran a lovely race at Kempton on Wednesday.  It was a bit too sharp for him and next time he will definitely run over 7f as he keeps running well over 6f but he is running with his throttle out for most of the race but is still finding a bit extra to finish his races well without ever looking as if he is going to get there.  He had the 1.8 million euro filly La Figlia just in front of him.  He has been swimming which he loves and he will continue to do that and at some point he will go and have a holiday for a couple of months and I think that will do him the world of good.

We should have one of our two year olds on the racetrack next week.  SOCIETY ROCKS son SOCIETY PRINCE, who is the spitting image of his Dad, could easily run if James can find a race for him.  THE PINTO KID worked on The Limekilns on Wednesday and is pulling himself together and should be on the course in September.  it is amazing how things change so quickly at this time of year with the 2yos.  Sometimes the most forward ones suddenly have a problem and then the ones who haven’t been a showing a lot start pulling themselves together and surprise you.
